| I
am a representational re-creationist that paints most frequently
with oils on large canvas. Naive, flat-color fields tend to dominate
my studies and I prefer to work quickly on them. I emphasize
line and push color and contrast to the extreme. I finish with
crudity. |
|
| Recent
works are representational oil paintings on small canvases or
hard panels. Depicted are reticent, sexually confronting portraits
of nude or semi-nude women, dogs and guns. The messages in the
work although politically charged are imbued with humorous overtones,
often over titled with embarrassingly long names that verge on
being narrative in nature. |
|
| Works
for 2006 will continue from '05 but venture into more abstract
painted representations on the small to medium scale, with heavy
infusions of high gloss materials such as spar varnish. Subtle
visual insertions of dogs and penguins continue to pervade the
work as well. Also ongoing will be the series of sculptured toy
wagons, debuting this summer. |
